TRANSPORT AND SUPPLY
Dalbit Petroleum Ltd is a signatory to the Kenya Pipeline Company
Transport and Storage Agreement and has its own offices situated at
each of the KPC depots throughout the country. This enables Dalbit
Petroleum Ltd to import, store and transport petroleum products through
the existing KPC system to the depots and to arrange onward distribution
and supply from these points.
For bulk fuel deliveries, the fuel is piped through the Kenya Pipeline
Company system from Mombasa to Eldoret. From the KPC depot in Eldoret
the fuel is loaded into the Company’s own 42,000 litres dedicated
road tankers that are used to shuttle the fuel to Kaya. The Company
has its own fleet of over 40 ‘primary movers’ for
this operation. In Kaya the fuel is transhipped (where necessary for
destinations not reachable by prime mover trucks) into the Company’s
own MAN 6x6 or 8x8 wd off road fleet for onward transport to the various
destinations within South Sudan. To guarantee quality, the fuel
is filtered during this transfer.
These off-road trucks will then make the final delivery to the relevant
Company depots or final customer nominated destination where the fuel
will be filtered and transferred into storage.
Due to the vertical integration
structure of the Joint Venture between Dalbit and Civicon the product
remains under Company control and ownership throughout the entire transportation
process thereby greatly facilitating control and traceability.
